#StopDeportationToAfghanistan - Regina Petrik

"Even the State Department describes Afghanistan as a high-risk area. There is massive violence in various forms everywhere. Deporting people to such a country means sending them to their deaths with their eyes open." Regina Petrik/State Parliament Member "The Greens", Burgenland

Thank you very much, dear Regina, for your statement and for supporting the campaign against deportations to Afghanistan. It is urgently necessary that political figures also join our demand. Deportations to Afghanistan are a massive breach of human rights. #AfghanistanIsNotSafe.

Almost every day, people in Afghanistan are confronted with violence, attacks, corruption and radical religious groups. The people who have landed here with us on their flight tell us "unvarnished" about the cruel reality. They show us pictures and video recordings that confirm the unbelievable everyday life in Afghanistan.

Politically independent experts such as Dr. Friederieke Stahlmann/Max Planck Institute https://www.proasyl.de/news/studie-zur-situation-abgeschobener-afghanen-bedrohungen-gewalt-chancenlosigkeit/ and Thomas Ruttig https://thruttig.wordpress.com/ also report continuously and impressively on the prevailing violence in Afghanistan.

We urge the political leaders to reconsider, discuss and revise the decision to deport people to Afghanistan. We, as one of the richest and supposedly most civilised countries in the world, cannot afford this massive violation of human rights under any circumstances. Many of the Afghans who fled to us are doing their best here. They are educated, go to school, have found families and friends. They suffer from massive fears, sleep disorders and psychosomatic illnesses because they know better than all of us the reality in the high-risk area of Afghanistan. Deportation poses a massive threat to all of them and causes them to panic.

For politically strategic reasons, we cannot and must not accept these extreme burdens on people fleeing and send them back to a country of cruelty and hopelessness. That is why we NGOs and civil society demand a quick solution. No deportations to Afghanistan.
