#StopDeportationToAfghanistan - Erich Fenninger

" Thousands dead. Hundreds of thousands displaced. That is the reality. Anyone who declares this Afghanistan safe is complicit." Erich Fenninger/Director Volkshilfe Austria

Erich Fenninger, for years committed to people in need and to people on the run. A man who observes and knows the social and political situation in our country very well and who is consistently committed to a good coexistence and to vulnerable groups. Thank you very much, dear Erich, for your voice against deportations to Afghanistan and for your actions.

Afghanistan has been in a state of war for decades. Hardly anyone from civil society has not been confronted with the consequences of violence. All the Afghans I know talk about violence, cruelty, corruption, radicalism and other inhumane conditions in the country. The majority of Afghan refugees are in Iran. There, too, the young people are massively endangered. Exploitation in illegal work, human trafficking, recruitment for the Syrian war.

Here in Austria, people from Afghanistan sometimes wait up to 5 years for a decision on asylum. Many of them attend German courses, schools, learn our language, make friends with people who live here, are taken into families. Their only wish is to finally be able to settle down and live in peace. No more fear of violence, of having to fear for their lives.

The fear of deportation to Afghanistan weighs heavily on their lives. Unbearable! Sleep disturbances, even depression, are the result.

We demand that the Austrian Federal Government stop the deportations to Afghanistan. No one can justify a deportation to Afghanistan in human rights terms. The young protection seekers are "abandoned" in Kabul with some small change, completely unprotected and without support. Afghanistan is a high-risk area, Austria warns with security level 6. Very few of the young Afghans still have family or friends in Afghanistan, most of them are then left all alone on the street in a high-risk area. As we know, found victims for warfare, radicalisation, drug deals. Exposing people to such a situation is not worthy of a civilised country and is in no way justifiable from a human rights perspective. It is a crime against people and their rights. The deportations to Afghanistan must be stopped.

We ask everyone who reads this article to pause for a moment and make a contribution against the deportations to Afghanistan. Write to those in positions of political responsibility, the Federal Chancellor, the Minister of the Interior, the heads of the provinces, initiate discussions, form groups that act against the deportations to Afghanistan. There are many possibilities. It is up to all of us how long these intolerable deportations to a country at war, this political brutalisation, can continue.

At the moment, deportations to Afghanistan are suspended because of Covid19. We hope for every single support, as the Minister of the Interior has already announced in a ZiB interview that he wants to resume deportations to Afghanistan as soon as possible. Deportations to Afghanistan are neither human rights nor humanitarian justifiable. https://www.sichersein.at/
