Let's talk about the things that bring joy ❤️

This autumn it will be five years that I have been doing voluntary work with refugees. There have been many wonderful, but also many incredibly sad moments. But there are always successes to report from the people I have been able to accompany together with various supporters. Many have fledged, go their own ways independently, have found friends here, a community, a job, their own flat.

Eshan, Matin and Yousuf/ 3 brothers from Ried

You surely remember. Negative asylum decision, detention pending deportation, suspensive effect at the last moment thanks to the great efforts of master painter Michael Großpötzl/Ried, Ehsan's teacher, and Dr. Benno Wageneder, the lawyer who always supports us wonderfully. At the new hearing at the BVwG Vienna, the 3 brothers then receive AB+. All 3 are in an apprenticeship and convince through performance and integration.

Ehsan Vocational School

Now Ehsan has completed another stage. He has successfully completed the second BS year. He really enjoys his training as a painter, which is evident both at work and at school. His boss, Michael Großpötzl, is very satisfied with him and happy to have him in the company. In some professions in Upper Austria, there is one apprentice for every 7 vacancies, which speaks for itself and shows how important good skilled workers are.

As I personally have a particularly close relationship with the 3 brothers, I am happy about each of their successes and I am especially happy to be able to observe how they are building their own lives step by step and how they are integrating themselves into our community.

Integration

Integration is not only achievement, no it is also a mutual movement towards each other. In esteem, love and respect. If we let the young people feel how important they are to us, that we take an interest in their lives, then in most cases a beautiful interaction is possible. That is what I expect from responsible politicians. That they take measures that give young people who have landed here after terrible experiences on the run an honest opportunity to gain a foothold here.

Ehsan from Afghanistan, at home in Ried, apprentice painter is one of many who show what is possible with respect, opportunities and attention.

Let's talk about the things that bring joy, again and again, Doro
