Solidarity March for Moria - arrived in Vienna

On Friday we left Mödling at 7.20 am for our last stage. After exhausting asphalt kilometres, we arrived at Ballhausplatz in the greatest heat. Two grannies against the right were there with a banner for the reception of people seeking protection. After a few moments, so did the police. The big UmbrellaMarch was moved to the neighbouring Heldinnenplatz. There, later on, field positions including ...

Solidarity March for Moria - Day 5

Yesterday, after a short train ride, we arrived in Traiskirchen via the Wechsel, thus via the highest point of our hike. There we were warmly welcomed by asylum seekers (Gholam, Reza, ...) and activists (Ulla, Susanne, Birgit, ...) in the wonderful Garden of Encounter. Thank you also for the very inspiring exchange with Councillor Ciperle and Mayor Babler. In Traiskirchen there are ...

Solidarity March for Moria - Day 4

Yesterday, after a very strenuous part of our march from Hartberg to Friedberg, we met with colleagues from SOS-Mitmensch Burgenland and the priest and integration spokesperson of Friedberg for an informal exchange. Thank you for decades of tireless human rights work! Along the way, people now approach us because they have heard about our campaign. Many people cheer us on and accompany us on the way.

Solidarity March for Moria - Day 3

Yesterday evening we had a very touching rally including the artistic formation of feldstellen* at Hartberg's main square. Many people thanked us for taking the strain and doing our solidarity walk and not giving up. Austrian/European policy still allows human rights violations. So we have to go on! This night we stayed at a campsite and had ...

Solidarity March for Moria - Day 2

Today we walked from Gleisdorf to Pischelsdorf and were wonderfully welcomed by supporters who have been working for refugees for years. THANK YOU to Giselheid, Reserl, Lukas and Richard! We sleep outside in tents at the church square. Report of our chairwoman, Heidrun Primas 13.06.2021

Our chairwoman, Heidrun Primas and activists of #WeekendForMoria-Graz

For ten weekends, artists and activists have camped outside to draw attention to the migration crisis at Europe's borders. Now a group from Graz is on their way to Vienna by walk. There they will protest for human rights on June 20th for International Refugee Day. https://tvthek.orf.at/profile/Steiermark-heute/70020/Steiermark-heute/14095856/Aktivisten-machen-auf-Migrationskrise-aufmerksam/14939307

Solidarity March for Moria

The "Wochenende für Moria" initiated in Innsbruck moved the whole of Austria in a relatively short time and encouraged other cities in Austria to organise these camps as well. The solidarity of civil society with those seeking protection on the Greek islands and at the European external borders such as in Bosnia was made clearly visible for months. With these actions, we all demand humane accommodation for ...
